Video showing events at Karbala – for Muharram 2011

Posted on Nov 17, 2011 09:45:59 AM

I just completed the shoot of a new video depicting events at Karbala.

I consider myself to be one of the luckiest producers in the world having got an opportunity to be the Director and Cinematographer for this video.

We have not shown the martyrs of Karbala but have designed the imagery in a manner that will give a ‘feel’ of the tragic events of Karbala where the grandson of the Holy Prophet Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam was martyred mercilessly. The video will be broadcast internationally on multiple TV channels and online too during Muharram 2011.

Here is a sneak preview in the form of pictures from the video.

Watch Al-Atash trailers

Posted on Oct 28, 2011 09:06:15 PM

Mega TV series Al-Atash is a contemporary story about sacrifice and peaceful resistance against fierce, evil and cruel forces. It is a story that reminds us about the values cherished by Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam and his grandson and his family who were martyred at Karbala after 3 days of thirst.

Give children back their mothers

Posted on Sep 2, 2011 11:37:48 PM

This was the goal of Al-Haadi Musalla of Toronto – the sponsors of my last short film ‘Rishta’ (The Bond). The theme of the film is the important debate on working women and the story/script was provided by the sponsors.

The idea was not to prevent all women from working but rather the film looks at the ‘collateral damage’ resulting from the thoughtless pursuit of the ‘perceived satisfaction’ of being a working woman.

Some women do need to work for economic reasons but that is not the case with all working women.

There is a perceived emotional satisfaction of being a career woman but that needs to be weighed against the losses that occur in the family life. We need to fix up our priorities.

Many children have lost their mothers and their family lives because both parents are focused on their work and careers. We need to think whether this great loss is worth the emotional satisfaction of a career.

Can this satisfaction be achieved by women by being more socially active instead of taking up a career? Can a man leave his job instead and focus on his children? Will a father sitting at home for the children be able to substitute the loss of a mother for the children? This film raises these questions that we all need to sit and answer – for the sake of our children…

This film was sponsored for the isaale thawaab of the Marhoomeen mentioned at the end of the film. Please pray for them and for all those who participated in the making of this film.

Join hands to show the world who the Prophet really is…

Posted on Aug 5, 2011 12:06:12 AM

Written biographies are the thing of the past. Audio visual media, viral videos, online films, social media have changed the world. If something does not exist in this sphere it does not exist at all for most people.

Visual stories have a profound effect on people and one of the best demonstration of this fact is the Film titled “The Message”. After it’s release in the 70s, things changed drastically. The Film became a reference for historical facts. The film had such a great impact on world audiences that it now serves as a point of reference to verify history!!!

Seeing is believing. Our sense of history and personalities is now dictated by what we see in films.

But the film was skewed in its approach towards Islam. It presented the message of Islam but did not do justice in presenting the personality of Prophet Muhammad Sallalaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam.

The film was powerful and hence it caused powerful damage.

The damage needs to be undone. A powerful film needs to be made that will present the Prophet to the world – in a manner that has never been done before. We are taking that initiative to make a film with a proposed title of “The Living Message” – a film that will open the eyes of the world. A film that will bring Muslim and Non-Muslim audiences closer to understanding the real persona of the Prophet.

There is no actor in the world who can play the role of the Prophet in any film. Hence we will use a symbolic visual style to present him in the film. The film will be all about him but it will not show him.

We will engage audiences and bring them closer to understanding him in a manner that is visual, symbolic and powerful.

But we cannot do this alone. Nor do we want to it alone. We want your participation in this Mega project. We have created a fund raising campaign on to raise funds for the film. More information about this Epic film project can be found there. Please contribute generously and be a part of this Epic film that will guide and inspire generations to come. Share this fund raising campaign amongst your friends and family and of course, your social network. Invite and encourage them to contribute for this Epic cause.

You may also send funds via Western Union or Bank Wire. Please contact us via email on for more details.

Chaining an elephant. Watch this new film and pray for the sponsors.

Posted on May 18, 2011 11:38:03 PM

Baby elephants are chained with a purpose that will be clear in a moment. As babies, they are unable to break these iron chains. These baby elephants try and try to break free from these chains but ultimately leave hope after continuous failure.

When these babies turn into full grown Elephants they are so powerful that they can break these chains with the slightest effort. But they don’t!!! The Elephants think that the chains cannot be broken! They have been trained to think that way from childhood. It is their thought that has made them slaves forever.

If Yazeed had his way, we too would be slaves forever. But Maula Hussain Alayhis Salam intervened. Maula Hussain broke all our mental shackles that enslaved us. Fear and hopelessness are the weapons of tyrants but Imam Hussain Alayhis Salam gave us hope and showed us what fearlessness really meant.

He sacrificed so much. He and others from the family of the Holy Prophet Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam were kept thirsty for days and were slaughtered by the butchers of Yazeed. But Aqa Hussain was the grandson of the noble Prophet and his father was Ali. He practically demonstrated what the Prophet and his family stood for.

He showed us the way in a manner that we can never forget. He is a shining example for us so that we may never think that we cannot escape slavery – so that we may never be like those mighty but uninspired Elephants who have been trained to surrender their freedom.

We recently did a short film on this issue for Al-Haadi Musalla of Toronto. This beautiful concept and story was written by brother Siraj Ali of Al-Haadi Musalla and we did our best to put this on screen as effectively as possible.

The film was sponsored for Eesaal e Thawab of Marhum Yakubali Sabowala, Haiderali Virani and Salim Virani.

I request all viewers to recite Surah Fatiha for them and pray for them and the sponsors. The sponsors have spent in the way of Allah so that the message of the Prophet and his AhleBayt AlayhimusSalam reaches world audiences through the powerful audiovisual media. May Allah bless them for this. Ameen.

Justice for our daughters, please. Watch new video ‘Umme Abeeha’

Posted on May 17, 2011 04:23:50 PM

The noble Prophet of Islam left no stone unturned in expressing his love and affection towards his daughter. His daughter too cared for him so much that the Prophet used to call her his mother or ‘Umme Abeeha’ (The mother of her father)

It is sad to see people still reacting negatively to the birth of a girl especially so when such people are a part of the Ummah of the noble Prophet. How can such people be so cruel to their daughters and yet claim to be in the Nation of the noble one?

I just completed a new video for my client – ‘Such TV’ The video takes a stand for the daughters of the Ummah of the noble Prophet. Such TV stands for the truth and speaks for the truth and this video proves it.

Here is the video. Watch and leave feedback/comments.

Watch ‘Such TV’ Channel IDs – Designed and executed by

Posted on Apr 27, 2011 10:15:57 AM

These channel ids are a part of a channel id campaign that we designed and executed for our client M/s Such TV – a new channel that was to be launched shortly.

The campaign was designed based on the brief given to us by the client and what we understood to be the vision of the client about where they wanted to place their channel in the minds of people. The channel was to be promoted as a young and fresh channel that is unique in its approach and programming.

Their approach to programming was to be ‘values based’ something that was missing in the existing TV channels on the block. There were some key unique propositions that the channel was focusing on, and our campaign was designed around these unique focus points.

Below are the 5 channel ids:
