Posted on Jun 30, 2010 10:03:18 PM

We will soon be launching an online film festival on the theme of Sufism. We invite like minded people to come forward and participate in this festival. If you are a producer or want to be one then this is a chance for you to make a grand entry.

There are three categories of films that will be exhibited in this online festival:

1. Short films – Duration between 1 and 10 minutes

2. Feature films – Duration between 70 and 90 minutes

3. Music videos based on Aarifaana/sufi kalaam (Sufi poetry) or naat (poetry in praise of the Prophet Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam) – Duration less than 7 minutes

The theme for all above categories is the Sufism and promotion of love and harmony.

If you have an idea that you think you want to make into a film then please get in touch with us as soon as possible. You can make your own films for entry into this festival or you can ask our teams to guide you and assist you in the film making process.

For more details or assistance please contact ebrahym@muhammadi.me or +923018219007

Corporate and individual sponsorships of the online event are also available at the moment.

Why do some Muslims reject being called a Muhammadi?

Posted on Jun 7, 2010 10:13:06 AM

I receive emails and comments on my site here and even on youtube where some Muslims object to the use of the name “Muhammadi” for Muslims. I just thought this issue needs special discussion and hence I am dedicating this short but brand new post to this issue.

The most common objection is that Read the rest of this entry »

Why do we offer Namaz/Salat? Behind the scenes of my new film “The Witness”

Posted on May 29, 2010 07:44:32 PM

When I was given the mandate to make a film on Namaz and Azaab-e-Qabr I was really scared… I was scared because I did not want to make a typical film that just shows punishment in the grave. Such films were already there online and the challenge was to stay away from that and come up with something different.

After many sleepless nights and numerous brainstorming sessions with our creative team we decided to focus on the question “why namaz?”

During our sessions we stumbled upon the startling fact that most of us did not really know why we prayed namaz in Arabic and not in Urdu or English. After that we conducted a small survey and realized that this was a question to which very few had any answer at all.

The most common answer was that we offer namaz in Arabic because we recite the Quran in our Namaz. Since the Quran is in Arabic we offer our salat (Namaz) also in Arabic.

But why do we recite the Quran in our Namaz? Can we not offer Namaz in our language without reciting the Quran in our Namaz? Nobody seemed to know….

Who is a Muhammadi?

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 10:05:20 PM

I was interacting with someone today on chat and was asked ‘who is a Muhammadi?’ Like most questions this question too can open up several avenues of discussion. I know what he meant and I told him what I thought… Read the rest of this entry »

5 new films to be released soon…

Posted on Apr 16, 2010 03:14:04 PM

I am back…. and just finished replying to the couple of hundred emails waiting for me (while trying to avoid the thousand spam mail trying to sell me viagra). It’s time for a quick update on what I am doing next.

Well, I am excited… Excited because I am working on some really cool projects and I will let you take a visual peek as soon as I get something shot.  I am excited because the projects that I am working on have great depth and mood and there is plenty of room to try out new ways to portray who we are and also new ways to portray our love for the greatest creation of all – Muhammad e Mustafa Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam.

Below is a brief summary of some of the projects underway. The projects may not be released in the order in which they are listed below as some projects are longer than others and the order of their release may be quite different from what you see below. Here are the projects:

1. The first film is a terrifying one that focuses on the act of Namaz/Salah and the result of ignoring namaz in afterlife.  Another issue touched upon is modesty in dressing. The sets for this film are done and so are the props etc. From the looks of the set and props this is beginning to look like the scariest film I have ever made….

This is a project of dear brother Zamir Afzal of www.nooreislam.tk who has been a pioneer in doing projects that attempt to change the way we live our day to day practical lives. He is a practical man and believes that his films should make a real and practical difference in people’s lives. His mission is to use the medium of films to bring people closer to Deen-e-Muhammadi Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam. His earlier film ‘Aik Mauqa’ (Click here to watch it online) evoked a tremendous response from world audiences and the current film is looking like it’s going to break all previous records… May Allah reward him for his efforts. And May Allah reward all his friends and supporters who have contributed their funds to make this film a reality.

2. The second project that I am working on is a highly emotional story that I am doing for Read the rest of this entry »

A special thank you to all friends who helped me make the films that I made.

Posted on Feb 27, 2010 09:20:04 PM

Firstly Eid Milad un Nabi Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam Mubarak to all viewers, subscribers, sponsors, and friends.

On this Eid day I wish to take the opportunity and say a special thank you to all friends and producers who financed my projects in this last one last year. I want to say thank you to all of them on behalf of my team and my viewers. I often get many good comments, good wishes and prayers from viewers from across the world but the real beneficiaries of these wishes and prayers are the people who sponsor or produce the films. Some times their names are mentioned in my films while at other times they prefer remaining anonymous.

My sponsors are the real heroes spreading the love and message of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alayhe Wa Aalehi Wa Sallam. Hundreds of thousands of viewers have watched the films sponsored by them and many have been deeply affected in some way or the other. I receive many emails from viewers who talk about how the films gave them insight and changed their outlook and behavior too at times.

I request all readers and viewers to sincerely recite at least one Durood Sharif on behalf of the sponsors and remember them (and me) in your prayers. May Allah bless them all.

For more information on how you can sponsor islamic films and media content please feel free to contact us via my email ebrahym@muhammadi.me or via my cell +92 3018219007
